Coleridge Bernard “C. J.” Stroud IV is an American football quarterback for the Houston Texans of the National Football League. C.J. Stroud was born on 3 October 2001, in Rancho Cucamonga, California. He attended Rancho Cucamonga High School, where he played as a quarterback for the football team.

During his high school career, Stroud was a three-year starter and led his team to a 23-9 record. He passed for 6,527 yards and 73 touchdowns and rushed for 1,027 yards and 20 touchdowns in his senior year alone. He was named the Baseline League Offensive MVP and a finalist for the California Mr. Football award.

After graduating from high school, Stroud committed to play college football for Ohio State University. As a freshman in 2020, he played in three games and completed 14 of 22 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns.

Stroud was selected by the Houston Texans with the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft on April 27, 2023.

Stroud is known for his accuracy, arm strength, and athleticism as a quarterback, and has drawn comparisons to former NFL quarterback Jameis Winston. He is expected to compete for the starting quarterback position at Ohio State in the coming years and is considered one of the top young quarterbacks in college football.
